A regularly scheduled board of directors meeting was held via TEAMS on March 29, 2023. All directors were present. A final convention/AGM report was presented, with a successful fund-raiser auction total reported. New legal counsel will be pursued, in order have a resource available should the need arise. Correspondence was received to file. The biggest discussion concerned the 50th Anniversary of the Association, with a decision to host an in-person convention and AGM, in conjunction with an Auction Era Induction ceremony, in North Battleford, SK at the WDM, on January 31, 2024. Further details will follow in a later post.
Provincial non-member auction companies have been identified, and an invitation letter to join our Association has been circulated to them. We provide a variety of services to our members, including bonding, and dispute resolution. Information regarding legislation, including tax obligations, is distributed to our members, and we provide a unified voice when dealing with various levels of government
Discussion occurred regarding on-line “auction-like” pages, and the requirement to be bonded and licensed in the province of Saskatchewan. Further investigation will take place, with discussion tabled to the next board meeting.
An application for new members Taylor’s Auctioneering, of Melfort was entertained and approved. We welcome them to the Association. The next scheduled meeting will be held June 28, 2023.
